indoor and outdoor staircase lighting
Whether internal or external, the lighting of the stairs must be treated with particular care, first and foremost as a matter of safety. If the stairs are adequately lit, not only are possible falls prevented, but it becomes more pleasant and gives value to this part of our house, like the other rooms, not relegating it to a simple passage area. So let's see how to best light the stairs and which LED products to choose.
Internal staircase lighting with LEDs
When the internal staircases are illuminated with LEDs, it is possible to choose either ceiling lamps or elements placed on the wall: in the first case, there is a soft light, which expands throughout the room. In the second case, the lamps must be installed in each ramp, so as to illuminate the steps well. In any case, the light beam must be directed towards the steps. Alternatively, you can opt for adjustable LED fixtures, like the LED spotlights, so you can move the light beam as you like and avoid creating shaded areas along the steps. For some types of internal staircases, we recommend particular lighting: for example with a spiral staircase, it is good to adopt both a ceiling lamp and light spots along the route.
Internal staircase lighting with spotlights
The LED spotlights are very original solutions for internal stairs and allow for a safe and perfectly usable environment. The most common LED spotlights emit light of white color, to be chosen between warm white, natural and cold. Some of these models can be installed under the stairs: in this way, the light beam is directed on each step.
External staircase lighting with LEDs
To illuminate an external staircase, several factors must be considered in order to have a safe and functional structure. If the external staircase is particularly long, it is advisable to install a series of lamps that are not too far from each other: in fact, the light level of the environment necessary for safe use must be at least 5 lux. In addition, the wires must be routed along sturdy plastic channels, while the chosen LED lamps must be prepared for outdoor use and therefore resistant to humidity and atmospheric agents. It is therefore advisable to choose LED products with IP65 protection degree.
In order to save more, headlights with motion sensors could be used, so that the lighting is supplied when it is actually needed.
Lighting steps for internal and external stairs with strips and led profiles
To effectively illuminate both internal and external stairs it is possible to apply flexible led profiles and strips along the steps. In this way, the safety of the structure is absolutely guaranteed, as there is no risk of tripping up or down the stairs. You can also decide to darken the flexible strip by choosing a profile with an opaque or white cover or to adopt a more colorful solution by choosing RGB LED strips.
The step profiles are naturally resistant, walkable and non-slip, with the possibility of being mounted in an upward or downward direction, as in the case of the STEP led profile.
Another idea to illuminate internal steps and stairs is to use corner led profiles, as in the case of the 45 degree TRIO led profile, here is an application on wooden stairs.
